Winter Fashion Modern Country 2017: The Poncho

Let's talk Modern Country Fashion for 2017...
This winter I'm all about my ponchos.

Winter Fashion Modern Country 2017: The Poncho

Winter Fashion Modern Country 2017: The Poncho

So much Modern Country Poncho goodness...!
I don't care whether they're in or out of what's trendy and hip right now; I'm interested in warmth, snuggliness and how many layers of thermals I can hide under those bad boys.

Winter Fashion Modern Country 2017: Camel Poncho

My current favourites are a mix of naturals and nudes. I'm talking camels, charcoals doves and creams...

Winter Fashion Modern Country 2017: Cream Poncho

...and in a variety of textures too. Some ponchos are classically plain - in which case I love a sharp shape to give a bit of contemporary interest....

Winter Fashion Modern Country 2017: The Sweater Poncho

...some are cable knitted for that gorgeous country vibe....

Perfect, no matter what you're shape, or height..
(how cute is this...?)....

The poncho is one Modern Country Winter Fashion look that just keeps on giving...

The BEST Christmas Craft Ideas!

The kiddiewinks have broken up from school, and, in this magical week before Christmas, I always love to have a bazillion awesome Christmas Craft Ideas.

Here are ten of my favourites for you to dive in and enjoy....

1. Make a Christmas wreath.
To get you on your way, here's a link to a post I wrote about creating your own wreath base cheaply and easily from your own back garden...

Christmas Craft Ideas On Modern Country Style: Make Your Own Wreath

Making your own wreath is a lot more fun and a lot less work than you'd imagine. The hardest bit is persuading yourself to get out there in this cold weather!

8. Handmade Present Tags
A little extra time and effort goes a very long way, and here's a great idea to do just that. These tags are little rectangles of cardboard with hand drawn designs, completed with a small scrap of fabric. Wowzers!

9. Cinnamon and Heart Garland
This is still on of my favourite completed crafts. Several years after I made it, I still have it displayed - a sure sign of a winner! Yes, it does take a little time to make those hearts but it's oh-so-worth-it! (Full tutorial for my Cinnamon And Heart Garland)

10. Simple Felt Nativity Scene

And how could I leave off the deeper meaning of Christmas? It's so easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of busy-ness at this time of year but, if you're able, take asome precious moments alone to think about this amazing gift....

"Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners...Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory forever and ever." 1 Timothy 1: 15

Top Ten Modern Country Christmas Hallways

Welcome, my scrumptiousses, to the second in the new series on Christmas decorating: Modern Country Style! Let's look at my Top Ten Christmas Hallway Ideas today...

Top Ten Modern Country Christmas Hallway Ideas

Modern Country Christmas hallways should be warm, welcoming and create a sense of anticipation of what's to come in the rest of the house...

Top Ten Modern Country Christmas Hallway Ideas

The only actual interior decorating we've done so far in our hallway is to remove nine, yes, NINE electricity meters so, let me tell you, I KNOW that a little Christmas decorating goes a loooong way in smartening up your hallway space...

Paper pom poms are a chic choice for Christmas styling, especially for stairs. But how easy a look is it to pull off? Find out the truth about decorating with pom poms.

I love the attention given to the staircase in so many of these images. Our original staircase was boxed in by previous owners of our Georgian home (whhhhyyyyyyy would you do that?!)....

Top Ten Modern Country Christmas Hallway Ideas

...I cannot wait to crack that baby out again...and when I do? The staircase will be decorated to within an inch of its Modern Country life!!

Top Ten Modern Country Christmas Hallway Ideas

Doesn't all the greenery look gorgeous in these images? I have a particular soft spot for eucalyptus during the winter months, I love its soft, muted blue green hues....

Top Ten Modern Country Christmas Hallway Ideas

...but over Christmas itself, it's got to be traditional for me: holly, ivy and touches of red....

Top Ten Modern Country Christmas Hallway Ideas

I think what grabs me most about many of these ideas is how the hallways have been decorated really lavishly - its definitely a case of more is more - but still with one eye on the style ball, as it were.

Top Ten Modern Country Christmas Hallway Ideas

There are colour themes going on that are picked up throughout the space, whether, as below, it's gold baubles tying in with the gold urn at the top of the stairs, and the gold of the mirror...

Top Ten Modern Country Christmas Hallway Ideas

...or simply a subtle enhancing of the muted shades that already exist in the hallway space, Modern Country Christmas decorating always lifts your spirits....

Top Ten Modern Country Christmas Hallway Ideas

...and prepares the way happily for the main event: Christmas Day!

Basically, a live advent is where lots of residents in one street agree to be assigned a date each in December, and then, on their given day, they reveal one of their windows in full advent glory!

This means that as December progresses, that particular street acts as an advent calendar....

A big Christmassy hello from my brand new laptop! My faithful old one died a very sad and painful death so I'm frantically trying to get used to this sparkly new-fangled thing in front of me!

Modern Country Christmas Front Door

But onto happier news: let's start this season as we mean to go on, enjoying each and every aspect of our homes as we look forward to a time spent focusing on what matters: family, close friendships and celebrating the amazing news that a Saviour, Jesus Christ, has been born, bringing hope to all.

Modern Country Christmas Front Door

Shall we kick off by looking at
my 10 favourite Modern Country Festive Front Doors?

Modern Country Christmas Front Door

Picking ten favourites is always hard but I hope these festive front doors get your creative juices flowing!

Modern Country Christmas Front Door

I love a good wreath at this time of year, don't you? I've often made my own in previous years but we're doing up our garden at present so there is very little suitable foliage...I shall be buying mine in...

Modern Country Christmas Front Door

But it's not just the wreaths that make these front doors super-festive...it's the small scale accompaniments too: a woodpile here, a fairy-lit standard tree there...

Modern Country Christmas Front Door

...the more space you have between your front door and any public space, the more you can go to town with this idea...

Modern Country Christmas Front Door

And any existing bare branches of plants, laden by Mr Jack Frost himself with twinkling, sparkly droplets of nature's own diamonds, add to it all the more.

 Modern Country Christmas Front Door

But if you have very little space outside at all then fret not!
